This update is to update your payroll system to the latest version (Version 7.8, encompassing the changes needed for the 2008 - 2009 tax year).

Firstly, before you do anything else, PRINT OUT THIS PAGE.
(Note: With some versions of browser this page may not print correctly. In that case, just click anywhere on this page then select "File", "Print Frame")

WHEN TO RUN THE UPDATE:

This update can only be run after you have printed all your end of year reports for 2008 and rolled into the new year.

Therefore please make sure that you DON'T load it before all your end of year procedures, but make sure that you DO load it once you have done your end of year procedures.

LOADING THIS UPDATE INTO YOUR COMPUTER:

This update assumes that your programs are all in the "\SYPAY\" folder, which is our standard setup. If your own setup is different, then you will have to get your support consultant to install it into the correct directory.

To download the update, simply click on "Download the Update" at the bottom of this page.

When your system asks, save the file as "\SYPAY\PAYUPDTE.EXE", or use your mouse to select the "\SYPAY" folder, then select "OK" to accept the default name of "PAYUPDTE.EXE" in the "File Name" box.

If you are running Internet Explorer, make sure you click on "Save this file to disk". DO NOT click or select "Open this file from its current location" under any circumstances.

The above will copy the self-extracting file PAYUPDTE.EXE file to your computer in the \sypay folder (directory), which is a zipped file including all the programs needed for your update.

Once you have run all your reports for the 2007 year and rolled into your 2008 year, then the programs in this file need to be unzipped as follows:

From your Desktop, select "Start", "Run". Either just type \SYPAY\PAYUPDTE.EXE as the program name, or change to the "C:\SYPAY" folder and click on PAYUPDTE.EXE.

Accept the default of \SYPAY as the "Unzip to folder" (unless your programs aren't in a \SYPAY folder as they should be), then click "UnZip". That will complete the update

If it says "Warning! SYPAY.EXE already exists. Overwrite Y/N" push "A" (short for "All") to save yourself having to answer "Y" to every file.

OTHER CHANGES YOU NEED TO DO:

You will need to edit your payroll item for student loan, enter 10% as the "Percentage after base", and then change the "Base for Calculation" to $349.

That will complete the update to the latest version.

Please note that this is an update only, and only works for current user's of SYPAY. It will not run by itself, it needs other files that current SYPAY users already have
